A journey towards the ultimate truth

Rituals

Rituals play a major role in almost all world religions and cults. Most of such rituals appear or sound odd to others but perfectly in sync with the ingrained beliefs of the particular religion/cult. Many religions have ceremonies/practices/rituals to commemorate the milestones of life like birth, transition to adulthood, marriage, death etc., likely to appear/sound unusual or strange to non-practitioners. Rituals of communion involving simulated eating of flesh and drinking of blood , rituals of Bris and Khitān involving practice of
surgical procedures on infants and children, ritual of faith healing to restore sensory defects by mere touch and many more strange ones can be seen among various religious/cult followers.

Throughout the world, devotees adhere to practices that strike others as bizarre, but seem completely reasonable to the faithful. Piercing of body parts and tossing young children from atop are religious practices common across religious groups (Hindus, Muslims and Christians). Apparently, many of the rituals are strange, unusual, bizarre, macabre, crude, torturous and even funny. These rituals have been introduced at times in the past in keeping with the intellect of the times and have got passed down traditionally with heredity, rather than logic and reasoning controlling the acts. Humanity needs to rise above religion to attain the Absolute Truth.
