Origin of the Universe – Critical considerations
The world is divided into theists (believers) and atheists (non-believers). I am sure all understand belief or non-belief in what!
The believers attribute the origin of the Universe to a super-intelligent principle. Universe has a design and intelligence, and so there should be a transcendental intelligent designer. The non-believers conceive a spontaneous origin, essentially by a random, unintelligent chance event, more of an undirected process. Atheistic Science had believed in an eternal universe till the theory of the Big Bang origin. Even before that, experimental validation of Einstein’s theory of gravity and Hubble’s astronomical observations had negated the concept of the eternal existence of the Universe. It is accepted in all finality that the Universe has a definite origin.
Having ruled out the possibility of an ever-existing eternal universe, only two options remain regarding the Universe’s origin.
- The Universe manifested by an intelligent design
- The Universe evolved through a random process of chance events.
The irony is that if we believe in a random origin by never-ending chance events, there would be no way of validating the process scientifically. How can we ever imagine the Universe’s origin by random chance events with no control or regulation? Yet, atheistic evolutionists want us to believe that an ordered, organized, and structured Universe came about by unintelligent and purposeless random events with no rhyme or reason.
Post-Bang Problems
Neither the Big Bang theory nor the IUTs can successfully explain the Universe’s formation without introducing an intelligent designer. All theories suffer from the problem of explaining pre-bang and immediate post-bang events. The major problem involves the violation of natural laws like causality, the law of conservation of angular momentum, and thermodynamics.
A fundamental concept of Science is the cause-effect relationship. Without ascribing a cause, how could we explain the effects that manifest during the formation of the Universe? The causative factor is a significant overlook in Science. A refusal to look into the cause is intentional, as accepting an intelligent principle becomes antithetical to their dogmatic stand.
Without an intervening cause, retrograde motion in our solar system violates the law of conservation of angular momentum.
The problems of energy conservation and increasing entropy also pose issues for scientific theories.
The Big Bang and IUT theories also suffer from issues related to the causation of various cosmological events and explaining order and design. One of the biggest posers related to the Big Bang origin of the Universe is the source of all the energy and matter. How did the expansion lead to the formation of order from nothing? How did apparently intelligent complexity arise from? How could an intelligent Universe come into existence obeying the laws of physics, chemistry and biology? How and where did the order and fine-tuning of the Universe come from? A challenging question is the origin or formation of the biological molecule of information code (DNA) and the mechanism of using or interpreting the code.
Honest Rethinking Needed
The atheists are on slippery ground in light of 20th-century discoveries. Common sense demands understanding how an organized, intelligent Universe could be crafted with a design and created without intelligent input. It is time that Science sheds its dogmatism and makes an honest and pragmatic approach to look toward that intelligent hand behind the manifestation of the Universe and all the beings within it.
